Patrick graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science (with Distinction) in Civil Engineering. He joined Scheffer Consultants in 1988 as an E.I.T., and became a partner when Scheffer Andrew Ltd. was formed in 2000.

During his time with the company, Patrick has been involved in a wide range of projects in the areas of land development, municipal works, and transportation studies. Patrick is currently the chief design engineer for the firm's projects in Medicine Hat and southern Alberta.

He has also been instrumental in establishing the CADD system and drafting standards for the company. He specializes in engineering design for Site Development projects, and provides expertise in computer modelling for stormwater management studies.
